An overturned tanker resulted in a chemical leak in Floyd County Monday.

Police say Sean Vanhoose, 27, was driving the tanker along US-23 near the Ivel community and may have fallen asleep at the wheel. The tanker flipped and came to rest in the median, blocking northbound lanes. The tanker leaked liquid nitrogen, and police shut down the highway in both directions for a short time.

EMS took Vanhoose to Highlands Regional Medical Center for treatment. Officials did not release any information on his condition or the extent of his injuries.

Police say the liquid nitrogen leak did not cause any injuries.
