Pair Accused Of Locking Children In Bedroom Plead Not Guilty

A Madison County couple accused of locking two children in a bedroom by chains and ropes to keep the door locked pleaded not guilty in the case Friday.

According to a police citation, Amber Bishop, 25, and Daniel Isaacs, 28, are charged with first degree criminal abuse. Police say they were called to a home on Morgan Street in Berea Wednesday to investigate. They say Bishop originally denied that the two six-year-old children were ever locked in a bedroom, but later admitted to police that they were. Police say the children were not even allowed to leave the room to go to the bathroom and ended up going on themselves and in their beds.

Police say two other children, ages two and five, were also in the home, which police said was in very filthy condition. Police say Isaacs, Bishop's boyfriend, was called, and when he arrived he also admitted locking the children in the bedroom.

Police say all four children were removed from the home and taken into protective custody.
