Two men fled the scene after crashing an SUV through a fence along a Lexington road Wednesday night.
Witnesses say the SUV was speeding along Muir Station Road, between Bryan Station Road and Paris Pike, around 11 p.m. The driver lost control, clipped a tree and smashed through about 50 feet of fencing. Police say the witnesses stopped to check on the men inside. They say the pair seemed fine and took off running. Investigators say officers searched the SUV and found a syringe in the center console, beer cans thrown outside and two cases of beer nestled under a pine tree.
Police say drugs, alcohol and speed were likely factors in the crash.
