A man was hit and killed as he crossed a busy highway in Louisville Monday evening.

Police say the man was wearing dark clothing and was crossing in the middle of the block around 7:30 p.m. when a car hit him. The driver did stop, and police say they don't expect to file any charges.

The victim was declared dead at the scene. Officials have not released the man's identity, but said he was apparently in his 50s.
