A Frankfort man who was already a registered sex offender in Illinois has pleaded guilty to 12 sex charges involving minors.
Larry Scott Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of sex offender IM/chat/social network use, two counts of first-degree distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor and nine counts of second-degree distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.
Police say they made contact with Johnson at his home in March. During questioning, Johnson admitted to having a Facebook account. This is a violation of KRS 17.546, "Registrant prohibited from using social networking Web site or instant messaging or chat room program accessible by minors". When asked, Johnson showed deputies his Facebook account and was subsequently arrested. His computer and an attached external hard drive were seized.
Police say a search of his computer found a total of ninety-five image files and thirty-six multimedia files of suspected child sexual exploitation.
Johnson will be sentenced on January 4.
