There are new details about a sex abuse case in Pendleton County involving a middle school basketball coach.
Cassandra Elfers is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old boy. She works as a part-time coach of the volleyball and basketball teams at Sharp Middle School in Pendleton County. Elfers has hired Eric Deters to represent her in court, who is the same lawyer who represented Bengals cheerleader Sarah Hones.
Jones admitted to sleeping with an underage high school student. Deters doesn't think this case will be as complicated as Jones's case. "I assume this is going to be an allegation of inappropriate touching, but I want everyone to know she did not have sex with this kid," said Deters. "She did not send text messages or sex pictures on a phone to his phone."
Efers was released on bond Friday evening after spending five hours in jail. Deters says Elfers will speak publicly about the charges soon.
