A Perry County deputy jailer has been arrested for misconduct after reports of contraband bring brought into the jail.
Deputy Jailer Bruce Campbell, 27, of Hazard, was arrested on a charge related to the introduction of contraband material into the Kentucky River Regional Jail, in Hazard.
The investigation stemmed from a complaint from jail officials that an employee was suspected of being involved in bringing contraband into the detention center. The initial investigation resulted in the execution of an arrest warrant at Campbell's residence in Perry County.
Campbell was charged with one count of official misconduct first degree, and was taken in the Leslie County Detention Center.
Further charges and arrests are likely, police said, pending further investigation by KSP detectives.
