PETA is offering $1,000 for the return of a Frankfort woman's dog that was mistakenly released into open woods because the dog was thought to be a coyote.
A Shiba Inu named Copper was taken to the Frankfort Humane Society on July 3 after she wandered away from her backyard. After a worker at the animal shelter mistook Cooper for a coyote, the dog was released into open fields behind the abandoned Home Depot store on Vandalay Drive in Frankfort and hasn't been seen since.
"She's a member of my family," said Lori Goodlett of her missing companion of 11 years. "I'm still hopeful."
That is why PETA is offering up to $1,000 for information that leads Copper back to Goodlett. "Copper needs to be home with the people who know and love her," says PETA Director Martin Mersereau. "We hope that someone will find Copper so that she can be reunited with her family."
