Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company (TGP) personnel this morning are investigating a release of natural gas at a company compressor station at Clay City, Kentucky. There is no fire, and the flow of natural gas has been stopped.

The incident stemmed from natural gas venting to the atmosphere during the activation of automatic safety systems at the compressor station. Personnel stopped the flow of gas by closing a block valve.

Gas Control technicians detected a pressure drop on the TGP system, and personnel were mobilized to the location to assess the situation.

TGP activated its emergency response plan.

Route 15 was temporarily closed by emergency responders, but it has been re-opened to traffic. There are no confirmed evacuations.

There are no impacts to TGP customers.
