Lexington police arrested a teenager after a high-speed chase around New Circle Road early Friday morning.
Police say officers spotted a red SUV near the intersection of New Circle Road and North Broadway about 30 minutes after somebody reported it stolen. Officers say the vehicle was moving erratically and the headlights weren't on. When police tried to pull the SUV over, the driver took off. The teen exited New Circle Road and drove through a construction zone on Versailles Road, damaging a wheel. Still, the driver kept going, heading back on to New Circle Road and speeding on until the SUV finally gave out near the Harrodsburg Road exit.
But the teen wasn't ready to give up. He jumped out of the SUV and ran from officers. They finally chased him down and subdued him with Taser.
Officers arrested the juvenile and charged him with receiving stolen property. Officials say other charges are pending.
