Lexington police arrested one man and continue the search for a second suspect after a robbery early Thursday morning.
Police say a man and woman had just parked at an apartment complex along Alexandria Drive to visit friends when two men approached their car. Investigators say Santiago Garcia-Soto, 27, used a baseball bat to break out one of the car's windows, while the second man held the two victims at gunpoint and went through the vehicle. The robbers stole a cell phone and took off in a gold van.
Police say they tracked that van to an apartment on Village Drive, located Garcia-Soto and arrested him. Garcia-Soto allegedly told officers the victims stole Christmas presents from him and his accomplice, and they were trying to get them back.
Officers searched the area with a K9, but did not locate the second suspect. Police describe him as a light-skinned black man with an Afro, wearing black clothing.
Police charged Garcia-Soto with criminal mischief and robbery.
