A Boyle County man is in the hospital following a high-speed chase through three counties that ended in a violent crash.
Police said they were called to Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Boyle County Tuesday around 6 p.m. for a report that Dylan Naylor, 20, was misbehaving in class. When officers arrived at the school, they said they noticed a car matching a suspect description, but when they tried to pull the car over, the driver just kept going.
Authorities identified the driver as Naylor. They said he drove north on U.S. 127 through Boyle and Mercer counties, reaching estimated speeds of 100 miles per hour, before entering into Anderson County, where he crossed into oncoming lanes and lost control of the vehicle. The car flipped several times. Officials say Naylor was thrown from the car.
"A few more feet and he would've came across the highway, right into me," said Tim Springate, the first in a line of cars a mile long, stopped as crews cleaned up the mess left behind.
"Maybe he got what he deserved," said Lynda Elliott, who was also just a few cars from the scene. "Maybe this will be a wake up call for him."
Naylor's cousin tells LEX 18, Naylor is at UK Hospital after suffering internal bleeding, a broken pelvis, cracked ribs, and a punctured lung.
Naylor is charged with DUI, wanton endangerment, and fleeing and evading police.
