Police continue to look for the suspects in a home invasion and an attempted robbery early Monday morning that investigators say may be connected.
The robbery attempt happened around 1 a.m. in Garrard County. Charles Pittman says two men pulled up in a dark car and tried to take a gas can from his yard. When Pittman confronted the men, one of them pulled a gun. Pittman was able to calm the men down and they took off.
About two hours later, Boyle County police say two armed men broke into an elderly couple's home on Weatherby Lane near Junction City. The victims say the men demanded money and drugs. They got away with jewelery, TV and coins. One of the suspects hit the elderly man over the head with a gun before the pair fled in a dark car.
"Right now they are really shaken up. The male occupant of the house was injured. He was hit in the head with a gun and caused a small cut on his head, which he had to be treated by EMS," Junction City Police Chief Jimmy Gipson said.
Police have not confirmed whether the two events are connected and they continue to investigate. The victims in both crimes gave similar descriptions of the suspects: two white males, one man in his 20's, the other in his 30's. They were both wearing baggy jeans, hooded sweat shirts and tennis shoes.
