Police were on the scene Friday at a standoff with someone believed to be connected to a Lexington home invasion robbery earlier Friday morning that left a man injured.
The standoff is taking place on Fontaine Road. Police have blocked off the road between Richmond Road and Lakeshore Drive. Police say they believe the suspect has barricaded himself inside the home.
Police say that around 4:30 a.m. two armed men kicked in the door of a house on Pleasant Ridge Way in Lexington assaulted a resident. The victim told police that he heard a noise at the back door, and when he went to check two assailants armed with a gun kicked in the door.
Police say nothing was taken, but the victim, who said he knew the suspects, was hit in the head. He was taken to UK Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police at the scene of the standoff have not yet said how that person may be connected to the home invasion, and have not released any identities yet in the case.
