Lexington police say a man shot several times Wednesday afternoon in the north side of town.
Police were called to Dakota Street, near North Broadway and Loudon Avenue around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday and say when they arrived they found a man face down in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police have since cleared the area but they say they're still searching for the shooter.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m., paramedics loaded the victim into an ambulance. He has been taken to UK hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police taped off the area and talked to neighbors about what they might have seen or heard. They also towed away a green SUV that investigators spent much of the afternoon inspecting.
At this point, investigators say no one seems to have witnessed the shooting but did hear five to six shots fired.
LEX18 spoke to one neighbor who says she rushed to help the victim. She did not want to be identified because the shooter has not been arrested.
