Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of the mother of a man on the run since walking away from his trial in Lexington last month.

John Buckley IV walked away from the courthouse just before a jury handed down a guilty verdict on a rape charge. He's been the subject of a nationwide manhunt ever since.

Now, police say they are looking for his mother, Sandra Merritt. They say she filed a fake police report stating a stranger stole her car. Investigators say they think she knew her son took it. The vehicle later turned up in Georgetown several days after Buckley's disappearance.

Merritt's last known address is in Colorado.
