Police Make Arrest After Short Chase Near UK Campus

Police caught a man after a short chase that ended with a crash in a neighborhood near the UK campus early Friday morning.

Police say the chase started when a University of Kentucky Police Department officer tried to stop a car along South Limestone around midnight. The driver refused to pull over and led police on a short chase through a nearby neighborhood. That ended when the driver crashed his car into a parked vehicle along Hummingbird Lane. The driver and a passenger jumped out of the car and ran.

Police brought in a K9, and about 20 minutes latter an officer found a man slouched inside someone else's car outside of an apartment complex on Waller Avenue. Police say the man will face several traffic charges, along with fleeing and evading.

Officers did not locate the passenger.

Police say they don't know why the two men ran, but say they suspect the car was stolen.
