A Lexington police officer suffered minor injuries when a car rear-ended his cruiser Thursday night.
Police say the officer noticed a disabled vehicle along the shoulder of New Circle Road, near the Tates Creek Road off ramp. Witnesses say the officer activated his lights and came to a stop to help the motorist. One car swerved into the left lane and stopped, but a second vehicle was not able to stop on the wet roadway and crashed into the back of the cruiser.
Officials say the officer was treated and released at the hospital.
Police say the wet pavement contributed to the accident, and they don't expect to file any charges.
