LOUISVILLE (AP) - Louisville police say a pregnant woman was killed and two other people were injured when an SUV lost control on Interstate 71 and struck a tree.
Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell told The Courier-Journal the three women were headed south near the Gene Snyder Freeway at about 8:30 a.m. EDT Monday when their GMC Envoy went off the road.
One passenger, 31-year-old Latonya Hunt of Sidon, Miss., was ejected in the crash. She was taken to University Hospital in Louisville, where she was later pronounced dead. Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Rita Taylor said Hunt, who was 27 weeks' pregnant, died of blunt force injuries and that the baby also died.
The other two women were also injured and in serious condition.
Mitchell says the wreck remains under investigation.
