Police have released some additional details on an escape from a Harrodsburg police cruiser Wednesday morning.
Harrodsburg police say they arrested Austin Howell, 26, for violating a domestic violence order. Officers first took Howell to the hospital to medically clear him because he was very intoxicated. Police say a short time later, Howell was passed out in the back of a cruiser in the parking lot of the police station, and the officer left him in the car and went inside to get some paperwork. While the officer was inside, Howell kicked out one of the police cruiser's windows and escaped.
Police say Howell was not cuffed at the time because he had bandages on his wrists due to self-inflicted pocketknife wounds.
Howell was wearing only Budweiser pajama pants and cowboy boots when he escaped, according to police.
