Police say a man arrested on an assault charge admitted he was involved in a police standoff in Lexington last month.
Parico D. Coffey, 20, was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center on Thursday. He was arrested in Detroit and faces an assault charge. Police say Coffey hit a man in the face with a beer bottle back in October. According to the arrest warrant, Coffey admitted to the victim of the attack that he was the man involved in a standoff with police on Osage Court on Oct. 19.
In that incident, the suspect, armed with a gun, sped away from a nearby crash and ran into a home in the Woodhill neighborhood. After a three hour standoff, police entered the home and found no sign of the man inside, although police say they did recover a gun from the scene.
Despite the witness statement in the arrest warrant, police have not officially charged Coffey in connection with the standoff.
