Lexington police say a man was drunk when he drove his car into a utility pole, knocking out traffic lights at an intersection early Monday morning.
The accident happened at the intersection of New Circle Road and Liberty Road around 3 a.m. Officers later located the driver of the car about a half mile away. Police arrested him and charged him with DUI.
Kentucky Utilities crews had to shut down the intersection while they made repairs. The road is now back open and traffic is flowing smoothly through the area.
Police have not released the name of the driver.
