Police say a woman who claimed a man broke into her Georgetown home and set it on fire over the weekend made the story up, and she has been arrested.

Audrey Polley is charged with first-degree arson, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and falsely reporting an incident.

Police say Polley called them at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday claiming that a masked man broke into her home on Emerson Trail. Police say three children were also in the home at the time. Police say Polley told them that the intruder bound her hands with duct tape, but she was able to escape and ran upstairs. She claimed the intruder then set a fire inside the house. Polley said she then jumped out a second story window to escape and suffered a minor injury in the process. The children also made out safely.

Police say Polley and the three children were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Police continue to investigate, and say the three children are now in the custody of their father.
