Police Say Homeowner Stopped Home Invasion Attempt In Montgomery County

Police in Montgomery County are investigating after an attempted home invasion early Tuesday morning in which the homeowner apparently chased away the suspects by refusing to drop a shotgun.

The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. at a home on Levee Road. Police say the the homeowner and his girlfriend asleep when they heard a knock on the door. A man in a ski mask and dark clothing said he and some others had broken down on the side of the road. They say the homeowner didn't believe the story so he went inside to get a shotgun.

Police say after about 15-20 minutes of banging on the door and windows, the homeowner says the suspect kicked his door down, showed a gun and said he would shoot him and his girlfriend if homeowner didn't drop his weapon. The homeowner refused, and the suspects eventually ran away.

The homeowner told police he only saw one person but believed there were a couple others from hearing suspect talk while trying to knock down the door.
