Police said Monday that an inmate at the Fayette County Division of Community Corrections facility was released in error Friday due to a miscommunication in transfer documents.
On Friday, Rodney Dewayne Bell was transferred to the Fayette County Division of Community Corrections by the Fayette County Sheriff's department from the Shelby County Detention Center on a warrant for contempt of court with a $1,000 bond.
Later on Friday, the bond was paid and Bell was released from Fayette County custody. On Monday, it was discovered that Bell had also been housed in Shelby County on a Federal holder by the BATF (Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms) and is considered by the BATF to be "armed and dangerous."
The U.S. Marshal's Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky, the Fayette County Sheriff's Department as well as the Lexington Fayette Urban County Division of Police have been notified and a warrant for Bell's arrest has been issued.
Bell is described as a black male, 28 years of age, black hair, brown eyes, 5' 10", and 205 lbs. His date of birth is September 9th, 1984.
