Police say a drug deal gone bad led to a shooting in Lexington Monday morning.
Officers arrested the shooter and now say the victim may face charges as well.
Dispatchers got a call from the Westminster Village Apartments on Versailles Road around 4 a.m. The caller told the 911 operator his friend was shot. Police found the victim limping along nearby Heartsbrook Lane with a gunshot wound to the leg. EMS took him to UK Hospital for treatment.
"We traced the incident back here to an apartment at Westminster Village. We do know that there were nine people there at the time," Lexington Police Department Lt. Chris Lowe said.
Officers found Jeffrey A. Cousey, 27, nearby and arrested him. He faces numerous charges, including assault, five counts of wanton endangerment, tampering with evidence and drug trafficking.
Police say the investigation remains open, and the shooting victim may also face charges.
