Lexington Police said Monday afternoon that a man who escaped from a jail transport vehicle on last week was not the man a bank teller spotted in a Lexington bank Monday morning.
Mustafa Qasem, 20, got away in the area of New Circle Road and Old Frankfort Pike around 1 p.m. Wednesday. He jumped a fence and ran into an industrial area. Workers at a nearby business managed to corner him, but he got away. Police later located an ankle bracelet he apparently cut off.
On Monday morning, police said originally a bank teller recognized Qasem entering Cumberland Valley Bank on Richmond Road while he making a transaction. Police later confirmed that the person spotted was not Qasem.
Qasem was in custody on a bond violation, but officials say they still consider him dangerous.
Qasem stands about 6-feet tall and weighs around 145 pounds.
