Lexington police charged a man with stealing packages off of area porches Tuesday.
Police say an officer pulled over Brian A. Ryder, 31, for a seat belt violation along Trent Boulevard Tuesday evening. According to court documents, Ryder didn't have an ID and in the course of subsequent questioning, admitted to stealing U.S. Post Office, Fed Ex and UPS packages off porches around Lexington over an eight-day span and selling items at pawn shops. Police say Ryder also told investigators he served as a lookout and driver when other people stole packages.
Police charged Ryder with five counts of theft of mail matter and two counts of possession of mail matter.
