Police are searching for the person responsible for shooting a man in Lexington Saturday night.

It happened around 8:00 p.m. on Brown Avenue, near Winchester and New Circle.

Police said the victim was shot in the upper, left thigh, then got into a Ford Explorer with another man. The two drove about three blocks to E. Loudon, before finding a group of people outside.

Those people told LEX 18 the victim rolled out of the back of the SUV and asked for help.

"[He] jumped out and was screaming, 'I got shot'," said Dandre Jackson, one of those witnesses. "We ran over to him and I put the belt on his leg because he was bleeding everywhere."

"We didn't know what was going on, so we just ran over here and tried to help him," said Alissa Kelly. "He told us he didn't know what happened. He said he was walking up the street and someone shot him."

"He seemed shocked, but not too scared," said Enrique Marchi.

Police said the shooting did not appear to be accidental, but they are not sure it was random, either.

The victim's name and condition have not been released.
