Lexington Police are looking for several women who they say stole some $40,000 by cashing forged checks at local banks.

Police say they think the women began the scam by using the identities of some women from Illinois. Then, when the group came to the Bluegrass back in February, they got Kentucky ID cards.

Police say they've cashed forged checks at banks in Lexington, Georgetown, Mount Sterling, Nicholasville, Somerset and Winchester.
