Police continue looking for the person they say shot a man around 9:30 Friday night outside a store on Georgetown Street in Lexington. Witnesses tell LEX 18 there was a group of people gathered in front of the grocery store last night when it happened, but no one got a good look at the shooter.
Ashley Hollis was inside the store:
"It wasn't nothing .... sounded like a firecracker ... so I went home."
Police say the shooter ran away from the scene.
"When I heard the shot I looked out and didn't see much. I went back in, came back out and police was up my street all the way over to Roosevelt," Hollis says.
Investigators say the man shot was conscious, talking to officers on scene before he was taken to UK Hospital. Police say it's still unclear exactly what led to the shooting, and they only have a vague description of the gunman.
Police have not released the name of the man shot. No word on how he's doing the day after he was shot.
