Police in Madison County found a meth lab in a Richmond motel early Friday morning.

Officers surrounded the Quality Quarters motel on Kilarney Lane, off the Eastern Bypass, early Friday morning. Firefighters and EMS also responded. Police hauled a red evidence bag out of a room and led a cuffed man to a police cruiser. Officers also evacuated neighboring rooms.

Police say they arrested Roy Turner and charged him with manufacturing meth.

Two people staying at the motel say officers told them there was a meth lab in the room next door. They described smelling an odor similar to ether and nail polish remover only "20 times worse."
