A stabbing investigation is underway in Lexington after a pregnant woman says she watched helplessly as her friend stabbed her ex-husband several times with a butcher knife, leaving him in the street to die.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on Mandeville Way in Lexington.
Police arrested Marc Butler, 31, charging him with assault.
"That is unreal," said Brooke Carter, the victim's ex-wife. "He can spend the next 5 to 10 years in jail. I don't care. That was uncalled for. That was really uncalled for."
Carter told LEX 18, she and Butler were walking down the street, when they caught sight of Johnny Carter, Brooke's ex-husband. That's when Brooke Carter said Butler went back to his nearby home, returning with a butcher knife, stabbing Johnny Carter several times.
"I'm like 'Oh my God, I can't get in the middle of them. I'm eight months pregnant. I don't know what to do'," Carter said. "I thought he was gonna stab him right in his chest or something."
Brooke Carter ran for help, while witnesses said, Johnny Carter crawled over to a nearby vehicle and waited for an ambulance. Officers determined Carter's injuries were serious, but not life-threatening.
Johnny Carter was taken to UK Hospital, where he is expected to recover.
According to police, Butler was arrested at his home, located close to the scene.
