A registered sex offender in Marion County was arrested Monday and charged with possession of child pornography.
Sherman Pike, 45, of Lebanon is charged with four counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Pike will be arraigned Wednesday in Marion District Court. His bond is set at $200,000 full cash.
Pike is a lifetime registered sex offender, having been convicted in Tennessee in 1991 of aggravated sexual battery involving a 10-year-old. His arrest Monday stems from an investigation that began in October 2009 by the Office of the Attorney General’s Cybercrimes Unit, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).
Additionally, Marion County Animal Control removed at least a dozen Chihuahuas from the residence. The dogs are now in protective custody.
