Lexington police blocked off an area off North Limestone after getting a report of an attempted copper theft.

Police searched an area along Eddie Street for the alleged thieves, reportedly stealing copper from a vacant house. Officers also called in firefighters after receiving reports of garbage on fire at the same home. Crews quickly doused the flames before they spread to the structure.

Police have not reported any arrests and continue to investigate.
