A Franklin County first grader got an amazing surprise Friday when her father, who'd been overseas in the military, showed up right in front of her.
Frankfort's Capital Day School was set up for a classroom presentation as students discussed their "dreams" in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Olivia's dream: "no more wars".
Her father, Richard McHam has been stationed in Guam for the last two years.
After being asked where her father was, Olivia received a warm embrace from the dad she wasn't expecting to see.
"It was awesome," she said.
Richard McHam literally just stepped off the plane and came to the school to greet his daughter.
He was told to wear his uniform, but even he was caught off-guard when he saw the signs students had made to welcome him home.
"I had no idea this was happening," he said. "I just came to see my baby. I'm just excited. I'm still trying to get over the adrenaline. I'm happy to be here. I'm happy to be back."
