Richmond police have charged a man in connection with a December shooting.

Police say they got a call just before 1 a.m. Dec. 7 reporting a shooting on Central Court. A resident called 911 saying a man suffering from a gunshot wound was on the front porch. Officers say the 27-year-old victim suffered at least two gunshot wounds to the back. Police say he told them he was walking along nearby railroad tracks when three people approached, and at least one fired shots. The victim walked to Central Court for help.

Police say they identified Tyler Gibbs, 20, as one of the assailants during their investigation. Police served him with an assault charge in the Madison County jail, where he was already in custody on other charges, including robbery.
