Lexington police continue the search for a man who grabbed a woman's purse as she walked near an apartment complex popular with UK students early Wednesday morning.

Police say the woman told them she was walking home near The Lex Apartments at Spring and Pine Streets around 2 a.m. when a man ran up and grabbed her purse. The victim initially tried to fight, but she told police she gave up when she saw what she thought was a gun in the robber's hand. The suspect was last seen running north on Pine Street.

Police brought in a K9, and officers found the purse, but there were some items missing.

The woman was not injured.

Police say the robber was a black man standing between 6 feet 2 and 6 feet 4 inches tall. He was wearing a grey or dark colored hoodie.
