Pushing away a knife another man was stabbing him with, is the last thing Danny Mason remembers from a brutal attack in his home Nov. 30.
Police say Jason Stewart cut Mason's throat several times in his Rockcastle County home, stole some money from the victim and left him for dead.
Mason was flown to UK Hospital with life-threatening stab wounds to his neck and upper body.
After nearly two weeks, Jason Stewart was arrested and charged him with first degree assault and first degree robbery.
The victim and his girlfriend, Brittany Pittman, say Stewart was a friend of theirs for many years.
"I never thought that he would be capable to do anybody like that. He's always been nice and good to people," Pittman said.
The victim says, during the attack, he was asking Stewart to stop, and even told him to take what ever he wanted. When it was over, police say Stewart took about $640 and other items he picked up from the home.
After surviving such a terrible experience, the couple still can't understand why their friend would do such thing.
"He pretty much thought he was dead when he left. Slitting his throat three times, stabbing him on his side..." Pittman said.
The victim said he was conscious during the entire attack. He spent several days at the hospital and now he's back home where he's still recovering from his injuries.
