A home in Scott County was destroyed by a fire Sunday afternoon.

It happened on Deer Lake Road in Sadieville just before 5:00.

Firefighters say a neighbor spotted the flames and called for help.

The home was a total loss but there were no injuries.

Neighbors say they tried to help out before firefighters got there.

"I was pulling out this afternoon around 4:30, as I looked over my shoulder I saw a big column of black smoke," says Jim Greer, a neighbor. "A couple of us came back in here, started knocking the leaves back, the fire department got here just as we did."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
