Search Firm Picked To Help Find Next EKU President

RICHMOND (AP) - A Washington, D.C. search firm has been chosen to help find the next president of Eastern Kentucky University.

Academic Search has tapped two senior consultants, James B. Appleberry and Carrie Besnette Hauser, to work with the school in naming 69-year-old Doug Whitlock's replacement.

The Richmond Register reported that Appleberry is the former president of Northern Michigan University and Pittsburg State University in Kansas. Hauser was vice president for advancement and external relations at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Whitlock announced his intention in August to retire in 2013. He has worked for the university for 38 years, becoming interim president in 2007 and getting the job full-time in 2008.
