The second annual Blessing of the Animals was held in Lexington at the History Museum Saturday.
Cats and dogs were blessed by the Clergy of Christ Church Cathedral. Several rescue groups brought adoptable animals to be blessed.
The tradition of blessing the animals started as a way to honor Francis of Assisi. He was best known and remembered for his love for animals and the environment.
