A night watchman chased off a pair of burglars at a Lexington construction site early Friday morning.

Police say the guard spotted two men inside a home under construction in the Maidencane neighborhood off Todds Road near I-75. The watchman told police the burglars were apparently trying to steal new, boxed appliances from the construction site. The guard chased the men, but they split up and he lost them in the dark.

A police dog was not able to trail the suspects.

The same guard spotted a suspicious fire in the same area a couple of weeks ago.
