A woman convicted of killing her 23-month-old child will learn her sentence in a Laurel County courtroom on Tuesday.

A jury found Amanda Johnson, 23, guilty of murder and criminal abuse in connection with the death of Stephen Troy.

The child was discovered unresponsive in her home back in 2009. Johnson's boyfriend reported seeing her throw the toddler and punch him in the back. An autopsy revealed bruises on the child's lower back, abdomen and the top of his head, along with fractures in his legs.

The jury recommended 36 years in prison for the murder charge and 10 years for criminal abuse.
