Lexington police continue to investigate an early morning shooting incident that left two people wounded.
Police say people in at least three different vehicles fired shots in a parking lot at Wrenn Court and Short Street around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. Investigators say it remains unclear who the shooters intended to target, but two people fled the scene in a Ford pickup truck and later showed up at UK Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. Police say they found evidence connected to the shooting inside the truck.
Investigators say they think the shooting stemmed from a incident that started inside a nearby bar and then spilled into the parking lot.
Witnesses say a dark car with three people inside and a large dark SUV with a woman behind the wheel also left the scene.
Police say a female victim is in critical condition, and the second person suffered a minor injury.
