Shots Fired In Harrison County Home Invasion

Police in Harrison County are investigating after shots were fired during a home invasion robbery early Friday morning.

The incident happened at about 3:30 a.m. at a home on White Oak Pike in Cynthiana. The homeowner says he heard someone walk through his front door and that's when shots were fired. Police say the suspect shot and the homeowner returned fire. They say a total of four shots were fired.

The Harrison County sheriff says whoever broke into the home got away with cash and a pistol, but left behind several bullets.

Police cut siding to retrieve a bullet logged into the wall to take in for evidence. They hope it will lead them to whoever was inside the home.

The homeowner was not hit by the gunfire.

A neighbor who has lived right next door for 40 years says nothing like this has ever happened in the neighborhood and hopes whoever did it gets caught.

The homeowner's wife and daughter were not home at the time.

If you have any information you are urged to contact the sheriff's office.
