A small plane that apparently crashed in northwest Leslie County Tuesday afternoon has been spotted by searchers from the air.

The search is being conducted in the Bob Fork area near the Leslie-Clay County line. The northwestern Leslie County Emergency Operations Center director is participating in the search, as are ground teams from Civil Air Patrol. The plane went down in a remote wooded area, and has not yet been reached on the ground.

The plane is Beechcraft Baron four-seater that is believed to been carrying four passengers. It was en route to Olive Branch, Mississippi from Fredrick, Maryland when they lost contact. So far, there are no other details.

LEX 18 has a crew headed towards the scene and will have more details as they become available.
