State Police said Monday that they arrested a Lincoln County man on a felony child abuse charge.

Lucas Vinyard was arrested after police say he assaulted a 6-week-old infant. State Police were notified that an female infant had been admitted to a local hospital suffering from injuries consistent with child abuse.

Vinyard, 29, of Stanford, was charged with first-degree assault. He is being held in the Lincoln County Regional Jail.
