Police continue to look for the person who wrecked a stolen SUV along a rural Jessamine County road early Thursday morning.

Deputies say a passing motorist spotted an SUV driving erratically along Bethany Road around 12:30 a.m. A few minutes later, that same person saw the SUV crash into a utility pole near the intersection of Riney B Way. The impact snapped the pole in half, dropping telephone lines across the roadway.

The driver of the SUV made a quick escape. When deputies arrived, the vehicle's doors and windows were locked, with the keys inside.

Authorities called the owner of the SUV, a Jessamine County deputy coroner. He said he thought the vehicle was still in his driveway.

Bethany Road remains shut down, as crews work to repair the utility pole.

Police continue to look for the person who stole the SUV.
