Stoops Affirms Interest in Madison Southern's Harris

Kentucky's football coach Mark Stoops has affirmed the Wildcats interest in arguably the state's best running back.

Madison Southern's Damien Harris was offered a scholarship by Joker Phillips when he was the head coach at Kentucky. However, when Phillips was let go, the sophomore running back didn't know if the offer was still on the table until Stoops visited Berea on Friday, Jan. 18.

According to Madison Southern head coach Jon Clark, Stoops made the trip to Berea on Friday to confirm that the scholarship offer is still on the table.

Earlier this month, Harris was named MVP of the 2015 class at the Army All-American combine held in San Antonio, Texas.

MaxPreps has also tabbed Harris as "perhaps the top running back in this class."

Below are Harris' results at the combine:

Pro shuttle (2 attempts): 4.2 seconds and 4.31 seconds

Vertical jump (2 attempts): 32 inches

40-yard dash: 4.35 seconds (according to a scout with Scout.com)

Bench press: 185 x 14 (personal best)

Along with Kentucky, Harris has scholarship offers from Ohio State, Michigan and Tennessee to name a few.
